Westport is a town rich in history and community spirit, and few projects embody this more than the revival of The Bridge at Saugatuck's restaurant. This renovation project is not just about creating a new dining spot; it's about rekindling old memories, celebrating local connections, and building a future that honors the past.
Westport Visionaries: How Community Bonds Shape The O'Dell Group's Projects
The O'Dell Group's approach to this project is deeply rooted in their local ties and commitment to Westport. Doug Pardon, an early investor in The O'Dell Group, has been a significant influence. Doug and Chris grew up around the corner from each other, and their shared history and community involvement have been pivotal in shaping this project. Doug’s vision for The Bridge at Saugatuck goes beyond business; it's about giving back to the community and creating a space that everyone can enjoy.
Doug Pardon generously gave his resources to a local group of builders which allowed us to create and grow The O’Dell Group into a successful, community based remodeler and builder. Doug also gave his time and resources to head up the Staples Football Boosters known as the Gridiron Club which played a large role in supporting the program towards it’s State Championship this past fall. And we are confident that as Doug determines to once again generously contribute his time and resources towards a beloved community based establishment, he will once again be wildly successful to all of our benefits.
“Doug grew up around the corner from me and my brother in Westport. He was an investor when I started The O’Dell Group over a decade ago, and we built his house in 2016. This project is about giving back to the community and creating a local spot that everyone can enjoy. It’s going to mean more to us on a personal level than it does on the business level.”
Brothers in Business: The O'Dell Siblings' Support the Revitalization at The Bridge Saugatuck
The bond between Chris O'Dell, his brother Steve and Doug Pardon has also played a crucial role in this renovation. Growing up in Westport, Steve and Doug spent countless hours at Longshore Golf Course, fostering a connection that continues to influence their work. Today, Steve still lives in the neighborhood, on the same property they grew up on, adding a layer of personal investment and dedication to the neighborhood project. The O'Dell brothers' close relationship ensures that their work on The Bridge at Saugatuck is not just about business but about family and community.
Crafting Westport’s Newest Gem: The O'Dell Group's Community-Focused Approach
At the heart of The Bridge at Saugatuck’s revival is a commitment to quality and community. The O'Dell Group has collaborated with local designers, architects, and owners to ensure that every aspect of the project reflects Westport’s unique charm. The use of bridge motifs and angles in the design pays homage to the iconic Saugatuck Bridge, symbolizing the connection between past and future, tradition and innovation.
On The O'Dell Group's Commitment to Community
"Growing up, we drove over that bridge hundreds of times a year. Now, Doug’s vision is to create a new local favorite that embodies the spirit of Westport.", says Chris. This project is a testament to the power of local roots and personal connections. The O'Dell Group is strengthening their bonds withing the community and creating spaces that Westporters can be proud of. As Chris O'Dell says, "This isn't just any project, it's a way to get even more involved in the community we love."
"We want to prop Doug up, support his vision, and bring something great to Westport. It's about creating a 'Cheers' establishment that everyone is rooting for.” - Brian Philpott
